Dealer's Selling malpractices?

If I had a choice between test driving a vehicle and looking at a sheet of paper I would choose to drive the vehicle 100% of the time and maybe even have a mechanic look it over for me before I buy it, not after. As-is means you purchase the vehicle and have no recourse whatsoever.
