How can you transfer an obsolete VHS tape into an online video?

I have just heard from a possible employer for a music gig, and they have asked if I had an online demo video I could show them? I am a little bit "old fashoined" and don't have anything really like that however I do have a standard video demo tape. How can I transfer that to say, You Tube and send it to the employer? I'm not sure what the first thing is to do!
