When should I learn how to play another instrument?

If you are capable as you say, then anytime would be good. If you need help with learning s and other trivial matters, then your band teacher would probably help you outside of cl. Overall, there is not a bad time to start learning a new instrument, as long as you have the time and the drive to do it.
